Join Navigate Africa's group departure to Africa's hidden island paradise — Sunday 15 to Friday 20 November 2026, flying nonstop from Accra in under two hours. Six days across São Tomé: snorkeling the crystal waters of Lagoa Azul, standing on the Equator line at Ilhéu das Rolas, cocoa-plantation lunches beneath the jungle spire of Pico Cão Grande — and, because November opens the nesting season, watching giant sea turtles come ashore at night. One price covers flights, hotel, excursions and most meals. 16 seats only.
We fly TAP Air Portugal's nonstop service from Kotoka International Airport, Accra — one of only two weekly direct flights — departing Sunday 15 November 2026 and returning Friday 20 November 2026. Flight time is roughly 1 hour 45 minutes. Your Navigate Africa tour leader travels with the group from Accra, and we handle your São Tomé e-visa application for you.
Here is what makes this tour special — the moments our travelers talk about long after they get home.
Not included: São Tomé e-visa fee (≈US$40 — we apply on your behalf), yellow fever vaccination, lunches, drinks, travel insurance and personal spending. Single-room supplement: $250.
Meet your tour leader at Kotoka Terminal 3 for the nonstop TAP flight (≈1h 45m). Transfer to our beachfront hotel, then ease in with a walking tour of the colonial capital — Independence Square, the 16th-century cathedral and the National Museum inside Fort São Sebastião — before a welcome dinner of fresh grilled seafood at sunset.
Snorkel the impossibly clear turquoise water of Lagoa Azul, then follow the wild north coast: the Anambó padrão where Portuguese navigators first landed in 1470, lunch in the fishing town of Neves, and the grand old Roça Agostinho Neto plantation — once the largest cocoa estate on Earth.
Drive south through jungle and cocoa groves for the classic viewpoint of Pico Cão Grande, the 663-metre volcanic spire. Lunch at Roça São João dos Angolares' famous plantation-house table, watch the Boca do Inferno blowhole erupt, and cool off in the natural rock pools of Praia Piscina.
Boat across to Ilhéu das Rolas to stand with one foot in each hemisphere on the Equator marker, snorkel the reef and feast at a beach barbecue. After dark, conservation guides from Programa Tatô lead us onto Praia Jalé to watch giant sea turtles nest — November opens the season.
Up into the cool highlands: the Monte Café coffee plantation and museum, the botanical garden at Bom Sucesso on the edge of Ôbô National Park and the São Nicolau waterfall. Back in town, taste world-famous single-origin chocolate, shop the craft market and celebrate at a farewell dinner with live música santomense.
A last swim and a slow island breakfast, then transfer to the airport for the nonstop TAP flight home — landing in Accra the same day with sand still in your shoes.
A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond travel (May 2027 or later) and a São Tomé e-visa — we submit the application for you once you book; the fee (≈US$40) is paid directly online. Your return flight, which the e-visa requires, is part of the package.
Yes — a yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry (travelers from Ghana are checked on arrival). Anti-malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended, and pack insect repellent. Speak to a travel clinic at least 3 weeks before departure.
Portuguese is the official language — your tour leader translates throughout. The local currency is the dobra, but euros are widely accepted and cards rarely are, so bring cash (euros or dollars). November is warm (≈27°C) with short tropical showers — pack light layers and a rain jacket.
A $500 deposit secures one of the 16 seats; the balance is due by 30 September 2026. We accept bank transfer, mobile money and major cards, and flexible installment plans are available. Book via WhatsApp (+233 53 905 4741), the form on this page or travel@navigate-africa.com.
An untouched paradise — we snorkeled, kayaked and ate the freshest fish of our lives. Cannot believe more people don't know about this island.
Seeing Pico Cão Grande rise out of the jungle was surreal. A perfectly organized long weekend.
The most peaceful place I have ever visited. Lagoa Azul looks unreal in person — photos don't do it justice.
